Scarlett Johansson is donating 2000 pairs of shoes to refugees in Sudan. Who knew she was a humanitarian?

Well, pysch! she’s promoting her new line of sportswear and shoes LOL. So I guess 2000 Sudanese refugees will be wearing Scarlett Hearts Reebok. I think the craze will sweep Africa by the summer.

She wore some nice drops at the launch.

The wispy gold lace bit near the top, with the single stone at the bottom — seems to be trendy for this year. I’m thinking that for spring, the white topaz will be replaced with blue topaz, citrines, and peridot.

OK, her birthday was yesterday. I do my best. And so does she — look at her on Oscar Night:

Someone please research the dress, and provide a comparitive analysis to the JLo item.

Huge necklaces were the real eye-catcher this year. Gemstones, diamonds, and…hmm? My picks:

1) Chloe Sevingy.

Reply if you can name all the gemstones. I see purple, green and red. The greens are emeralds for sure. But are those pink sapphires? Or amethyst? And does she have rubies? Or garnets?

2) Naomi Watts.

I think I see a zillion dollars worth of gigantic diamonds. Some white, some yellow fancies. Call me crazy. (Please! Post comments! Call me crazy!) I think the earrings are white topaz.

3) Jennifer Lopez.

OK, I don’t know what I see here at all, but WOW. It’s a Marchesa dress, and the necklace-as-neckline deal is said to be made of “crystals.” Hm. What kind of “crystals?” Tell all if you know it.

Well, Oscar fans, it seems that my four earring ladies from last year have left me high and dry. Jennifer Alba wore the same-shaped drops, minus the gorgeous gemstone. Jennifer Garner wore some rather miserable looking drops, and a housecoat with red buttons, and looked like she was going to be ill. Reese Witherspoon’s earrings were buried in her hair. And Nicole Kidman forgot to wear earrings at all!

So, I have to award this year’s prize for innovation to a pair of shoes:

Stuart Weitzman Diamond Dream Shoes, with 1,420 Kwiat diamonds totaling over 30 carats, set in platinum circles. Priced at over half a million dollars. Worn by Anika Noni Rose (the third “Dreamgirls” girl).

OK, I have been righteously dissed by a Carrie Underwood fan, who slammed me for cutting off the picture of her diamond dress at the Country Music Awards last fall. Actually, we were both a bit mixed up, but I shall take the high road and clear all this up.

The photo that I first put up:

does NOT cut off the Kwiat dress. Because this photo is not from the CMA’s, it’s from the AMA’s. (Who can keep up with all that, and right in the middle of holiday shopping?) At the American Music Awards, Carrie wore this:

Clearly, not the diamond dress.

But at the CMA’s, she did indeed wear a gown by David Rodriguez with nearly 800 diamonds, supplied by Kwiat. Most of the diamonds are on the straps, so this over-the-shoulder shot gives you the best view:
